Held on Wednesday evenings, September through May, for children 3-12 years of age, the AWANA groups are challenged to memorize God’s Word by loving teachers who encourage the children to do all they can to hide it in their hearts. Besides the active and fun weekly meetings, there is also a special day in the year for Bible quizzing, another for an AWANA games meet, and the exciting spring Grand Prix car-building-and-racing event.
A letter from the director:
Welcome to UCRBC's Awana Program. We just wanted to take time out to thank you for your interest in sending your child to participate in the Awana ministry at Upper Cross Roads Baptist Church. We are pleased to have the opportunity to participate in your chid's Christian growth.
Because we believe so strongly in teaching your child the Word of God, we take extra time each week in preparing the lesson, reading the Bible, and other articles in order to provide our clubbers with the proper leadership. It is also important that you, as parents, help them to adequately prepare for their weekly meeting both mentally and spiritually. This includes reminding them that they need to be on their best behavior while in the Lord's house. Please insure that your child comes to the meeting on time, in uniform, with their Bible and handbook, and properly prepared for handbook time. This last item is extremely important. Each week, the clubber is expected to memorize certain Bible verse and should come to the meeting prepared to recite them.
All meetings will be held on Wednesday evening starting promptly at 6:30 P.M. and ending at 8:20 P.M. Please be ready to pick up your child at 8:20 P.M. so that your child may be promptly dismissed so that our staff can expedite cleanup activities and get home to their families. Please do not leave your child unattended after pick up. Due to safety concerns in the parking lots, Awana children must be accompanied by their driver when outdoors after dismissal and they may not play or loiter in the parking lot areas.
The Awana program follows the holiday schedule of the Harford County School system; consequently, classes will not be held wheneer the schools are closed. During inclement weather, classes will not be held whenever the schools close or when they close early. Normally, late school openings will not affect our evening classes.
We sincerely hope you will take the opportunity to share the learning experience with your child. Please don't hesitate to contact UCRBC if you have any questions or concerns, and we will be happy to talk with you. |
